Bacardi-owned Patrón Tequila has partnered with designer John Geiger to release limited edition trainers for Cinco de Mayo, Forbes reports.
John Geiger is one of “The 25 Most Influential People in Sneakers Right Now” according to Complex, and Patron recognizes his craftsmanship in this exclusively made pair.
The Patrón x John Geiger GF-01 sneakers are crafted with ‘rare’ materials, inspired by the Tequila brand’s agave fields in Jalisco, Mexico. It features a colorway of soft green and a ‘natural’ hue, reflecting the agave plant texture.
The sneaker and apparel designer expands on the new leather application stating, “The materials have never been used for footwear - it’s usually for like bags and other stuff like that. It comes in one color, so we had to dye those colors - developing it from scratch. We cut the leather, dyed it, then it gets embossed.'”
“I’m consistently inspired and impressed by Patrón. I loved working with them last year on our streetwear collection and this is another collaboration truly driven by passion,” said Geiger.
The shoes are green and white to match the design of the Tequila bottle, and are branded with the designer’s ‘g’ logo, as well as the Patrón bee symbol.
The Patrón x John Geiger GF-01 sneakers will retail for US$250 a pair.
